Portrait of Nour Mohsen Open to Product Design roles

I design it, build it, and ship it.

I'm Nour, a product designer in New York. I take ideas from user research to polished UI and prototypes, and then to working code. I studied industrial design and communication design, and I trained in art direction, so I care about how a product looks and how it tells its story.

Each case study opens with a 60-second summary: the problem, what I did, and the result. The process is below it if you want the detail.

Recall · a memory journal for iPhone

Journals ask for work and photo libraries can't answer questions. Recall lets you talk, type or snap, then brings your days back to you. The idea goes back to 2024 and became my capstone. I designed and built it into a real app that people are testing now.

  • From capstone research (15 people, 3 personas) to a public TestFlight beta in 2026
  • Works in Egyptian Arabic and English; Ask found the right day in 6 of 6 test questions
  • One rule shapes every screen: a guess is never shown as a fact

Achiever · gamified sales incentives

A B2B platform where managers launch sales campaigns and employees earn points and rewards on top of their salary. I'm the only designer, working with a PM and three developers who are building it now.

  • Owned everything after the brief: flows, features, UI and a design system
  • Handed off a coded HTML/CSS prototype that you can click through live

ReLoop · recycling that pays you back

Most people say they care about sustainability, but few act on it. ReLoop pays people for recycling and repairing, and it brings the drop-off point to their door.

  • Designed 4 ways to recycle, each with less effort: doorstep truck, smart kiosk, AI photo scan, repair map
  • Points, cash-out and a leaderboard reward people right away instead of guilting them

FitsEveryday · brand + e-commerce, shipped

A streetwear brand and online store that I designed, coded and launched by myself in 14 weeks. I did the logo, the apparel, the domain and the hosting.

  • Hand-coded in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, responsive on every screen size
  • Full brand identity, apparel line and product photography direction

Smart Study · UX research for a student planner

Why do students fall behind? In a team, we interviewed and surveyed students, then turned what we heard into an empathy map, a persona, a journey and a prioritized feature set.

  • 3 interviews and a survey, synthesized into three key insights
  • MoSCoW, value vs. effort, and a 26-card sort that shaped the app's structure

How I work

Four habits that run through every project.

01

Test the problem before I design anything

I run surveys and concept tests to find where the problem actually happens, not where I assume it does.

Recall: the survey showed people forget most at work and school, not in their personal lives. That changed the brief.

02

Personas have to change the design

If a persona didn't change the design, it was decoration. Each one I write traces to a specific feature.

Recall: Mary → "On This Day". John → voice logging. Dr. James → tasks linked to the timeline.

03

Fewer taps beats more features

Every extra step is a reason to give up. I design the shortest path first and add features only after it works.

ReLoop: the Green Truck comes to your door, so the user doesn't have to travel to recycle.

04

Prototype in the real medium

Figma shows how something looks. Code shows whether it works. I go as far as the idea needs.

FitsEveryday is a live website, and Recall is in beta on real iPhones.

Toolkit

From research to working code.

I like working at the edges of the role: user research on one side, front-end code on the other, and visual craft in between.

About

Trained in industrial design, now designing digital products.

I started in industrial design, which taught me structure and real-world limits. Then I studied communication design, which taught me storytelling. Product design is where I use both.

I enjoy competition and hard problems. Outside of work I watch a lot of football, play video games, and travel whenever I can.
